For Men
Although the majority of our clients are female, many men visit Downe for Therapies and Pamper Days, often accompanying their partners as part of a special anniversary celebration or as part of a gift.
Although some men on arrival are uncertain about having a Therapy or about their participation in a Pamper Day, they are without exception incredibly positive about their experience at Downe. (The simplest demonstration of the change of heart is the statement made at the beginning of an Aromatherapy Body, Face & Head Massage by an eighteen stone, six foot something, forty year old who still played prop forward for his Old Boys Rugby Team: “Just promise me you’ll not tell the guys at the club.” And the statement made by the same individual at the end of the Day: “I must tell the other guys in the front row about this!”)
To respond to the ever increasing number of men wishing to visit us, we have introduced a number of therapies specifically for men and we have now added a Men’s Grooming Day and a Men’s Pamper Day to our range of Pamper Days.
Therapies for Men
All of the Holistic Therapies are just as suitable for men as for women. We have, however, adapted certain of the Beauty Therapies to make them more appropriate for men. These Therapies are set out below.
The Atlantic Men’s Grooming Facial - £55
The Atlantic Men’s Grooming Facial is a luxury facial designed to rejeuvenate and nourish the Skin.
Suitable for all skin types, it includes a deep cleanse, exfoliation, steam treatment and massage. It incorporates a seaweed treatment mask rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids to sooth, cool and condition, leaving the skin clean and vibrant.
The Atlantic Conditioning Therapy for the Hands- £40
The Atlantic Conditioning Therapy for the Hands offers hands a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. This therapeutic treatment includes an invigorating hand massage featuring a seaweed-based hand cream and a paraffin wax. It leaves hands well-groomed and polished.
This therapeutic treatment includes a cleanse to remove surface debris. Hands are rinsed in water infused with lemon, lime and essential oils. Nails are shaped and buffed and cuticles are tidied. An exfoliant based on marine salts with moisture binding seaweed and olive oil helps to rid the skin of dry dead cells. A relaxing hand and arm massage featuring a seaweed- based hand cream is applied to revitalise the hands and a warm paraffin wax treatment is given. The paraffin wax treatment nourishes and conditions the nails and skin. A seaweed based hand cream and nourishing oil is then applied. The Therapy leaves hands well-groomed and polished.
The Atlantic Conditioning Therapy for the Feet - £40
Similarly the Atlantic Conditioning Therapy for the Feet offers feet a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
This therapeutic treatment begins with a soak in a seaweed bath to improve circulation, revitalise and purify. It includes a cleanse to remove surface debris. Feet are rinsed in water infused with lemon, lime and essential oils. Nails are shaped and buffed and cuticles are tidied. An exfoliant based on marine salts with moisture binding seaweed and olive oil helps to rid the skin of dry dead cells. An invigorating foot and leg massage featuring a seaweed- based foot cream is applied to revitalise tired feet and a warm paraffin wax treatment is given. The paraffin wax treatment nourishes and conditions the nails and skin. The Therapy leaves feet well-groomed and polished.
The Atlantic Facial For The Back For Men - £50
This Therapy is a Facial for the Back. Skin is cleansed to remove excess oil and debris, then exfoliated to polish dull skin, then massaged with selected essential oils to condition the skin and relieve aches and pains. A customised ‘back mask’ is then applied followed by a moisturiser to complete the therapy.
The Therapy is deep cleansing, stimulating and invigorating.
The Men’s Grooming Day
The Men’s Grooming Day is a day spent relaxing with a series of Therapies designed to enhance both appearance and a feeling of well-being. The Day includes the following Therapies:
- a Conditioning Therapy for the Feet,
- a Conditioning Therapy for the Hands,
- the Atlantic Facial for the Back,
- a Men’s Grooming Facial, and
- an Eyebrow Tidy.
Lunch and a Cream Tea are included in the day.
The Men’s Grooming Day costs £209.
The Men’s Holistic Relaxation Day
The Men’s Holistic Relaxation Day is a Pamper Day (which includes lunch and a cream tea) spent relaxing and de-stressing. The day includes use of the Gym & Spa and the following Therapies:
- your choice of Stone at Downe, the Holistic Relaxation Therapy OR an Aromatherapy Body, Face & Head Massage, and
- a Reflexology Massage
The Men’s Holistic Relaxation Day costs ‘£185.
Pamper Days
If they prefer to enjoy a Therapy or Therapies other than those in the Men’s Grooming Day or the Men’s Holistic Relaxation Day, men can of course build the Pamper Day that they would like by combining a Pamper Day with their own choice of Therapies from those available at Downe. We are happy to give advice on suitable combinations of Therapy.
