Facilities
Downe Health Spa
Beautifully located with stunning ocean views, Downe Health Spa comprises a spacious spa, four therapy rooms, wet and dry lounging areas, changing facilities and a conservatory for dining – all under one roof.
The Spa
The spa includes an octagonal spa bath with whirlpool jets, a sauna and a steam room. Each is a top of the range commercial facility and is run at optimum temperatures. Use of these facilities is on an unrestricted basis during a Pamper Day or Pamper Half Day.
Air conditioning and dehumidification services maintain the spa facilities at ideal temperatures and humidity levels.
Wet Lounging Area
The wet lounging area (which is air conditioned and dehumidified) has panoramic views across the spring-fed lily pond to the coast. On warm Summer days the two french windows overlooking the lily pond are opened and the lounging area merges into the gardens.
The Therapy Rooms
We have four Therapy Rooms, offering privacy and a relaxing environment while providing all the equipment required to carry out therapies and beauty treatments to the highest standards.
The Atlantic Room
There is a very spacious and comfortable dry lounging area with a dozen sofas and coffee tables. Tea and coffee are always available as are magazines and daily newspapers.
The Conservatory
The Conservatory is of an Edwardian design and is a veritable suntrap. When the two large ceiling fans slowly turn to disturb the heat of the day it is easy to imagine one is back in earlier, more leisurely times. The conservatory looks across two green fields to Lundy Island.
Within the Conservatory are bistro tables and chairs where lunch is served.
The Patio
Both the Atlantic and the Conservatory lead out to a raised patio and lawn, which is a suntrap with breathtaking views looking out to Lundy Island. To the east of the patio is a large, spring fed lilly pond.
On warm, sunny days cream teas are served out on the patio.
The Gardens
Downe has gardens of seven acres open to the visitors to the Health Spa. Located on the tip of the Hartland Peninsula Downe grounds look west over the Atlantic, north up to Lundy Island and east towards Bideford Bay. The location is simply breathtaking and the cliff top walks around the Hartland Peninsula are magical.
